Keeping them close

For the pets who aren’t here anymore

Many people keep a photo of a pet who has died somewhere they see it every day. DeskTails can be a quiet version of that: your dog or cat back in the chair beside the desk, keeping you company through the workday.

If that would bring you comfort, it works the same way it does for anyone. Choose a favourite photo, and they settle into the room while you focus. There’s nothing else you have to do.

A few things worth knowing

  • Your photo stays private. The background is removed in your own browser and the original photo is never uploaded. Only you see the cutout, unless you choose to share it.
  • Nothing is shared unless you choose to. Public pet pages are off by default, and a co-focus room shows your pet only to the friends you invite. Anything you share can be turned off again whenever you like.
  • No pressure, ever. There are no guilt messages and no broken streaks to worry about. Missing a day just means they rest.
  • You can change your mind. Swap the photo, take a break, or delete everything from Settings. It’s gone for good once you do.

If it’s too soon

That’s okay. Some people find comfort in seeing their pet every day, and others need time first. Both are normal. If you are struggling, your vet can usually point you to pet-loss support in your area. Talking to someone who understands can help.
